Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission across assigned routes, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring cargo integrity and security
- Drive various types of trailers including refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, dump truck, and roll-off trucks to deliver freight efficiently
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle condition, report any issues promptly, and maintain compliance with DOT standards
- Plan routes effectively to optimize delivery schedules while maintaining safety and punctuality
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any logistical issues
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in compliance with federal regulations
Experience
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred
- Proven truck driving experience in freight delivery, including route driving and load & unload operations
- Familiarity with operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience with freight handling equipment such as forklifts is a plus
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to commercial driving and cargo securement regulations
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading freight and inspecting vehicles regularly
