Bob’s Metals, Inc. provides high quality scrap metal recycling services to industrial, manufacturing and service industries throughout the Pacific Northwest region. Our company utilizes state-of-the-art equipment including material handlers with grapples and magnets, forklifts, mobile shears, balers, and metallurgical analyzers to recycle scrap material effectively. Scrap metal is processed by sorting, cutting, torching, shearing, and baling. Our company has a strong commitment to efficient and environmentally friendly processing of metals to specific size, density and quality that is preferred by steel mills and foundries for melting in the production of new finished products.
Position Overview:
Bob’s Metals is hiring a Class A CDL driver to operate roll off trucks transporting scrap metal to and from customer and supplier locations throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The majority of driving is local and in town. Drivers are typically home daily. Occasional longer runs, including trips to Spokane, Washington, are required. This position also requires occasional overnight travel.
This is a full-time position. We operate as a team and support one another in the yard and on the road. We are looking for drivers who operate safely, take pride in their equipment, remain flexible as business needs change, and are willing to step in where needed to help the team succeed.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Eight-hour shifts assigned by management
- Occasional Saturday work based on business needs
- Occasional overnight runs required
Key Responsibilities
Driving and Safety
- Operate roll off trucks safely and in full compliance with federal, state, and company regulations
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections using digital DVIR reporting
- Do not haul any load that is unsafe or contains hazardous material
- Ensure all loads are properly secured before transport
- Inspect containers, wheels, and surrounding areas before leaving a site
- Assist other Bob’s Metals drivers when needed
- Maintain a professional and respectful presence with customers and the public
Equipment Flexibility
- Be willing to learn and operate additional equipment combinations as assigned
- Equipment may include end dump, doubles, flatbed, or other trailer configurations
- Adapt to changing routes, assignments, and operational needs
Vehicle and Equipment Care
- Complete and submit digital DVIRs accurately and on time
- Check fluids, tires, and safety equipment daily
- Lubricate rail systems weekly
- Report all mechanical concerns through proper reporting channels immediately
- Coordinate with onsite mechanics when needed
- Keep truck interior clean and organized
- Clean and sweep out roll off boxes as required to maintain safe and professional standards
- Company vehicles are smoke free
Communication, Dispatch, and Documentation
- Use company dispatch software for daily assignments, job notes, and status updates
- Maintain accurate hauling documentation and provide copies as required
- Maintain reliable communication during working hours
- Return missed calls promptly when safe to do so
- Work closely with dispatch and yard staff to keep operations moving efficiently
Yard Support
- Assist with general yard duties when no runs are scheduled
- Step in to support team members when workloads shift
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent climbing, bending, and entering and exiting truck cab
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Qualifications
- Professional driver training
- Minimum three years of roll off or comparable heavy truck experience preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, wholesale, or scrap operations preferred
- Comfortable using tablets, smartphones, and dispatch software
- Strong safety awareness
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Dependable, steady, and team oriented
- Flexible and willing to take on new equipment and responsibilities
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of truck driving school required
Licensing and Compliance
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver License
- Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate
- Clean driving record required
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and comply with FMCSA regulations

Pay: $28.75 - $29.75 per hour
