Summary/Purpose
The Plant Manager must provide leadership and guidance to every functional area of the plant in compliance with all applicable policies, business objectives, and performance targets, with particular focus on the five principles of The JTEKT Way. Ensure facility drives continuous improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and operating costs. The plant manager is responsible for defining and effectively communicating clear strategies to satisfy customers, team members, and stakeholders; as well as executing a plan to achieve objectives, remain profitable, and create a positive problem-solving culture.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
1. Continuously strive to improve adherence to the Plant Management Requirements (PMR)
2. The annual development and execution of a business plan that improves profitability, operational metrics and is accurately forecasted.
3. Drive Lean Manufacturing Methods, eliminate waste, improve process flow, and optimize lead times.
4. Driving all plant performance measurements and KPI’s including but not limited to safety, quality, productivity, continuous improvement, and profitability.
5. Using a variety of methods to communicate plant performance and profitability, as well as long-term Hoshin objectives to internal and external partners including executive management.
6. Creating a positive plant culture that demonstrates leadership in safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
7. Driving customer service culture at every level and achieving highest ratings on customer satisfaction
8. Develop plant leadership through coaching, mentoring, and driving a team culture with effective communication practices throughout the organization.
9. Represent the company in the community and promote the company’s goodwill and interests in community activities.
10. Foster a culture that reflects the JTEKT Guiding Principles to attract and retain qualified talent. Model the application of the Guiding Principles to maintain an inclusive environment and high degree of employee engagement.
11. Provide open communication and participate directly in positive employee relation activities to maintain a union-free work environment.
12. Participate in long-range plant enhancements, conversions, and equipment planning.
13. Ensure proper operational availability, including approval of capital equipment requirements and assurance of successful product launches to meet customer requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for managing and developing the plant leadership team in accordance with JTEKT policies and procedures.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires demonstrated successful leadership in a lean manufacturing environment and systems.
- Experience in Management, manufacturing process, dealing with customers, budget preparation, and cost control.
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop relationships, trust, and drive teamwork.
- Outstanding problem solving and decision-making skills in a production environment.

- Understanding of the automotive marketplace, especially as related to Asian transplant vehicle manufacturers.
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors in Engineering (preferred) or Business-related field.
- 5+ years in leadership position and automotive manufacturing plant is a plus.
- Experience in management, manufacturing processes, dealing with customers, budget preparation, and cost control.
- Previous Plant Manager Preferred

- Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
- Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 10-20% of time.
