This key role supports the daily operations of their assigned water/wastewater treatment facility. Responsible for ensuring the safe operation of all crucial equipment through regular inspection and maintenance thereof. Assists in ensuring regulatory compliance to local, state, and federal standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform routine scheduled maintenance at assigned facilities
Assess problems and diagnose equipment failures
Check the condition of lift stations as needed
Pull motors and pumps for needed maintenance
Flush fire hydrants and flush-outs for water quality control
Inspect and operate gate valves
Locate and mark distribution system facilities
Install, relocate, and adjust meter boxes and valve cans
Exterior maintenance of grounds and buildings including lawn and landscaping
Assist with water and wastewater line repairs and other work as directed
Always ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility
Submit orders necessary supplies
Fulfill customer work orders as required
Read customer water meters at assigned intervals in the assigned area of responsibility
Maintain a daily maintenance log for regulatory requirements
All other duties as assigned
Education/Skills
High School Diploma or Equivalent
OSHA safety training is a plus
Valid driver’s license
Experience operating large machinery preferred (backhoes, trenchers, large lawn equipment)
Working Conditions
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
Ability to lift heavy objects of up to 75 pounds
Exposure to potential hazards such as chemicals, fumes, and odors
