Duties

• Safely operate waste collection rear loader trucks in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and state transportation laws
• Follow designated routes efficiently while maintaining accurate delivery logs and route documentation
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to identify mechanical issues early, including checking air brakes and other critical systems
• Adhere to all safety protocols including defensive driving practices and hazard awareness to prevent accidents or injuries
• Assist with the disposal process at transfer stations or disposal sites, ensuring environmentally responsible practices are followed
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members to coordinate pickups, report issues, or address route changes promptly

Skills

• Proven experience in commercial driving with a focus on solid waste management or related fields such as delivery driving or heavy equipment operation
• Strong mechanical knowledge of garbage trucks,
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating manual transmission vehicles preferred
• Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, state transportation laws, and hazardous materials handling standards
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during load & unload activities
• Familiarity with air brake systems and vehicle maintenance procedures for heavy-duty trucks
• Excellent defensive driving skills combined with a proactive approach to safety and hazard prevention

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
