Inspects pumps, mechanical drives, electrical components, feeding systems, etc. as part of a formal preventive maintenance schedule to avoid unnecessary equipment malfunctions.
Analyzes and troubleshoots complex control circuits in MCC’s and works with relay logic using a wide variety of diagnostic equipment to determine source of malfunction.
Installs conduit and electrical circuits for treatment plants, pump stations and booster stations.
Installs, programs and troubleshoots PLCs.
Installs system/component upgrades. Review software licenses and program backups.
Ensures state required meter calibrations are performed and documented.
Maintains records of labor and parts and materials used for each work project.
Reports to work for standby after hours needs, as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the maintenance, repair and installation of equipment in water treatment and distribution systems, and wastewater treatment and collection systems.
Knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical systems.
Knowledge of operating systems and communication protocols.
Knowledge of safety procedures and practices applicable to working with electrical and electronics systems.
Skill in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair work related to treatment plant and pump station electrical systems and equipment.
Skill in the installation, programming, calibration, and commissioning of various electrical/instrumentation devices.
Skill in reading and understanding schematics and blueprints.
Skill in accurately diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
Skill in the use of a variety of test equipment and specialized hand and power tools.
Skill in fabricating and repairing components necessary for equipment installation.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; take responsibility for quality and timeliness of work; respond to unplanned requests; complete assigned tasks and report progress; demonstrate behavior consistent with Department direction.

Required Education, Experience, Licensing, and Certifications:
Associate’s Degree in an electrical, electronics, or a related field with three (3) years’ experience in the maintenance of MCC equipment; or High School Diploma/equivalent with experience equivalent to a four (4) year electrical apprenticeship.
Electrical Technician, Journeyman Plumbing or Pipefitting certification preferred.
Possession of valid electrical license or PLC/computer programing certification preferred.
