Street Sweeper/Equipment Operator

The City of Westminster is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Street Sweeper and Equipment Operator to support the maintenance of City streets, parks, and public grounds. This position is ideal for candidates with experience operating medium and heavy equipment who are looking for a part-time opportunity with public service impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment such as tractors, street sweepers, riding mowers, push mowers, and trimmers.
• Perform street sweeping, snow removal, grass mowing, trash collection, and general grounds maintenance.
• Report equipment issues and assist with maintaining safe and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience operating medium and/or heavy equipment.
• Ability to work safely in outdoor environments and perform physically demanding tasks.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

Essential Employee Requirement
This is an Essential Employee position. Successful candidates must be willing and able to:

• Report to work during inclement weather and emergency situations.
• Respond to call-backs outside normal work hours.
• Remain on duty for extended periods when required to support emergency operations.

Position Details

• Hourly rate: $18.00/hour
• Contractual, 20 hours per week
• Safety-Sensitive Position
• Participation in the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System is required (7% biweekly employee contribution)
