Pay: $19–$22 per hour, based on relevant experience, demonstrated skills, availability, and position responsibilities

About the Position

Joy Junk Removal is looking for dependable, hardworking team members to help with residential and commercial junk removal projects throughout San Luis Obispo County and Santa Maria.

This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable with physical work, enjoys working as part of a small team, and takes pride in helping customers clear out unwanted items safely and efficiently.

Experience in junk removal, moving, delivery, warehouse work, construction, landscaping, or a similar physical role is strongly preferred.

Paid training is provided on Joy’s equipment, safety procedures, loading methods, customer-service standards, and jobsite expectations.

What You’ll Do

• Remove furniture, appliances, household items, debris, and other approved materials
• Carry items safely through homes, apartments, offices, garages, and outdoor areas
• Load trucks and trailers efficiently to maximize space and prevent damage
• Protect floors, walls, doorways, and customer property during removal
• Use hand trucks, dollies, straps, moving blankets, and other equipment safely
• Assist with basic disassembly when needed
• Sort items for donation, recycling, disposal, or reuse when appropriate
• Sweep or tidy work areas after removal is complete
• Identify and report pre-existing damage, unsafe conditions, or restricted materials
• Follow company safety procedures and disposal guidelines
• Communicate professionally with customers and team members
• Help inspect the jobsite before leaving to ensure the agreed work has been completed
• Support clean, organized, and professional company vehicles and equipment

What We’re Looking For

• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Availability to work one to three days per week on Thursdays, Fridays, and/or Saturdays. Could grow into more days per week.
• Honesty, respect, and a positive attitude
• Strong work ethic and willingness to stay active throughout the workday
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely as part of a team
• Good judgment when moving items through tight spaces
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy or bulky items safely
• Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, and remain on your feet for extended periods
• Ability to understand and communicate basic work instructions in English
• Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus, but is not required
• Reliable transportation to the designated meeting location
• A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Professional communication with customers and coworkers
• Experience in junk removal, moving, delivery, warehouse work, landscaping, construction, or similar physical work is strongly preferred

Pay and Benefits

• Starting pay of $19–$22 per hour

• $250 retention bonus after 90 days of successful employment and good standing

Schedule

We are currently hiring for part-time daytime work on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Applicants may be available for one, two, or all three days per week. You do not need to be available every day to apply.

Starting and ending times may vary based on customer appointments, project size, disposal location, travel requirements, and landfill or donation-center hours.

Initial weekly hours may vary based on customer demand and scheduling. Additional days and hours may become available as the company grows.

Some additional hours may also be available through our housekeeping and cleaning division. Applicants who are interested in both junk removal and housekeeping may indicate that when applying.

Junk removal only is completely acceptable. Housekeeping experience or availability is not required for this position.

Because we serve customers throughout San Luis Obispo County and Santa Maria, some workdays may involve travel between different communities. Transportation between customer properties is provided by the company.
